This is thoroughly festive. Hints of orange, chestnut and pear and a whisky kick - best drunk by an open fire!
Makes 1 serving
Glass type: old-fashioned whisky tumbler
Ingredients:
1 slice of pear
Generous splash (37ml) of Johnnie Walker Gold
12.5ml chestnut liqueur (available from Gerry's, Soho)
1 brown sugar lump soaked in orange bitters and Angostura bitters
1 bar spoon (15ml) of chestnut puree (crème de marron)
Top-up with soda water
Method:
Place a slice of pear in an old-fashioned glass, muddle it and add 1 brown sugar cube soaked in orange bitters and Angostura bitters. Add a dash of soda, just enough to cover the cube, and crush it with the back of a bar spoon. Add the whisky, the chestnut liqueur and the chestnut puree. Top up with soda. Stir over ice. Garnish with slices of pear.
